aty Collins wasnt happy shed had to stay behind after
school AGAIN. Homework Club was such a drag! If only there was
a fun way to learn everything she needed to know. Things would
be so much easier to remember, if only the lessons werent
so boring.
She sighed as she glanced up from her book and looked at her
teacher putting something into her desk. It was sunny outside
and she was growing tired of the book she was reading.
Katy looked over as the classroom door opened and Mr Carpenter,
the caretaker, walked in.
Excuse me! The headmaster would like to see you about the
second years reports, please.
Mrs Stuart looked at Katy.
Will you be all right, dear? Have you got enough exercises
left to keep you occupied until I come back?
Katy
was in no doubt that she had, and so Mrs Stuart followed Mr Carpenter
out of the room, leaving Katy all alone.
It was very quiet without Mrs Stuarts coughing and sneezing.
The clock ticked steadily as Katy read another difficult history
question. She sighed again.
Wait! What was that? Katy could hear something that wasn't just
the ticking clock. She strained to listen. A strange rustling
sound was coming from Mrs Stuarts desk.
No footsteps echoed down the long corridor. She had time to investigate.
