s Katy approached the desk, the rustling got louder and louder.
Katy paused as she stood next to the drawer. Was she about to
discover an important and fascinating secret?
As she slowly pulled open the drawer, the rustling stopped. Katy
peered between the mess of pens, pencil sharpeners, and crumpled
tissues, trying to find the mystery resident. Could it be a mouse?
It would be easy to understand why a mouse would live amongst
the clutter inside Mrs Stuarts desk. But the two bright
eyes staring out at her didnt look like they belonged to
a mouse.
Katy peered in closer to get a better look at the tiny creature.
Its scaly skin was green and yellow, and it had huge, fascinated
eyes.
Hello,
Katy whispered.
The creature hopped neatly onto Katys hand.
Hello! it replied. Im Dino who
are you? I've never seen anything like you before. You're a bit
like Mrs Stuart, only smaller.
Im Katy, she answered. Im one of
Mrs Stuarts pupils. There are lots of us. What exactly are
you? And why are you in my history teachers desk?
Dino looked up at Katy. Im a teachers pet.
I live in Mrs Stuarts desk to help her out with the history
of dinosaurs. I know loads about them she always asks me
if she needs to know something. What are you doing here?'
Katy looked sad for a moment.
I have to stay after school because I need extra help with
history. Its my worst subject its so boring.
Dino looked astonished.
No it isnt! No subject is boring if you learn it
in a fun way! Listen, I dont just have to help Mrs Stuart.
I can help you, too! I've got friends who know about all sorts
of subjects - even about magic and jokes!
Katy watched in amazement as Dino hopped down onto the floor
and gave a sharp whistle. Suddenly, Katy heard a lot of noise
in the corridor. She gasped and ran back to her seat.
